About the Book

The Success Formula

Everyone is searching for a formula for success, but there is no one, single formula for everyone as our needs, wants and wishes vary from individual to individual. On the other hand, it is noteworthy to mention that those who have achieved success have many qualities in common. The attributes of vision, risk-taking, passion, planning, focus and perseverance are typically utilized in various proportions to accomplish success.

On the journey to success, the first-timer must identify a goal, as the goal determines your actions. Then there is your measurement of success. One commonly-used gauge of success is financial progress. Other yardsticks include public acclaim, spiritual progress, personal health, knowledge, improved self-esteem and confidence … and the list goes on. What is yours?

by Lynda Fussell

As a serial learner and ‘early adopter’, I found myself full of ideas and exciting new things I wanted to share with the world. But I kept on working really hard, long hours for my ‘safe’ backstop job while I tried to learn more or try out other new things that really interested me. The trouble was, I love learning and I’m naturally curious. But … I’m hugely competitive and at the same time, I didn’t think I was ready. Or perhaps I didn’t stop to question if ‘I’ was ready to make the changes I dreamed off.

It’s a strange thing really. I’ve done it before, a few times … but in those days my girls were much younger and my parents independent. As my girls grew up and left home, I became more conscious of their views of me. The pedestal was high. I also had my parents to consider. They live with me and as they were aging, seemly small things were actually becoming really big things. I was aware that I could easily unnerve them with a passing comment about bills coming in and cash being limited – a not-uncommon scenario for a small business working with large corporates.
